Malaysia. A journey through nature in the family

The visit to the city of Kuala Lumpur will be an inevitable stop to discover a multicultural mosaic in a frame between colonial charm and modernity. Continue with a visit to Cameron Highlands, at an altitude of 1500 meters; a hike in the jungle and tropical forest of Taman Negara, one of the oldest rainforests in the world.

Day 1: Arrival in Kuala Lumpur

Arrival in Kuala Lumpur, meeting with one of our representatives and transfer to the hotel. Free time to explore the city independently and/or rest from the long journey and get used to the new climate – time zone.

Day 2: The fireflies and monkeys of Kuala Selangor

Breakfast at the hotel. Free time to explore the city on your own. In the afternoon, meet your driver and leave for Kampung Kuantan. This excursion also offers the possibility to interact with two species of monkeys living in the nearby forest, the long-tailed macaques and the silver leaf monkeys. Once at the destination, a fish dinner is served in a local restaurant on the river bank. After sunset, we reach Kampung Kuantan, one of the largest firefly colonies in the world. On board of a boat, you can admire the fireflies illuminating the night fluttering among the mangrove trees in search of food. Before leaving for the capital, a brief stop, at the Hindu temple. Return to the city late in the evening.

Day 3: Visit the elephant centre of Kuala Gandah

After breakfast, departure in the morning for Kuala Gandah. Once in the reserve, first visit the park of deer and tropical animals, then the centre of the elephants. After viewing a short introductory video on the centre and its activities, continue in the elephant area to feed them and those who wish can also bathe with smaller specimens on the river. Return to the capital in the late afternoon. Free time to explore the city on your own.

Day 4: Temples and natural landscapes of Cameron Highlands

After breakfast, departure in the morning for the Hindu Temple of Batu Caves, the largest and most important temple in Malaysia. Continue on to Cameron Highlands through natural landscapes. A shortstop at Tapah, before starting the climb to the Cameron mountains. Along the scenic mountain road, you visit a family of local farmers (to learn more about the tropical fruit of Cameron H.), stop at the Iskandar waterfall and at a small Orang Asli village, the original Malay tribe. We will reach Cameron Highlands in the early afternoon for a tea plantation visit and the perfect time for tea-time.

Day 5: Arrival at Taman Negara National Park

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the hotel and visit of a butterfly. A shortstop at one of the local fruit and vegetable markets. Then the descent towards Taman Negara begins. Late afternoon arrival at the small Kuala Tahan pier and check in at the Mutiara Resort. After dinner, meet your nature guide at the lobby resort. Departure for a night walk in the jungle in search of small insects and other animals.

Day 6: Trekking and canoe excursion in the Taman Negara

Breakfast at the resort. Meeting with your guide at the resort lobby and departure for forest treks including the suspension bridge walk. Return to the resort for lunchtime (not included). In the early afternoon, meet your guide and set sail for a river through the typical wooden canoes. Stop at the small speedboats of Lata Berkoh to cool off a little and enjoy the surrounding nature. Return to the resort for dinner.
Note: Bring your swimsuit if you want to cool off in the natural rapids.

Day 7: Return to Kuala Lumpur or transfer to the pier

After breakfast, a departure from the resort for transfer to the capital with arrival in the early afternoon. Or as an alternative, early in the morning transfer from the Kuala Tahan pier to the Kuala Terengganu pier (Shahbandar jetty) for those on their way to a seaside holiday.
